The design
Chalet Orca and her sister chalet Orso are two of the most beautiful chalets in the Val d'Isere. Over the last two years Le Fornet has seen a surge in unique, top end properties resulting in a demand to stay in this exclusive part of the valley. High spec finishes and supersized panoramic windows bring the surrounding mountains indoors and create a unique luxury mountain experience for your stay.
Light plays a key role in the design of the chalet and facing south brings the sun into the chalet for the most part of the day. Orca combines traditional materials and local stones with a twist of contemporary styling. Think hard igneous bathroom surfaces, reclaimed wood structures and leather finishes.
As you enter the chalet you will find a reclaimed wood and metal ski room and cloakroom. There is a wonderfully unique room with two queen sized beds that can be used as a children's room or equally as an adult twin. Arpin textiles give the locally sourced flagstones a warm finish.
On the lower level is a wine cellar and a dreamy spa area with an indoor granite pool with a mountain scape backdrop, a tiled hot tub, a hammam and a gym. It is also possible to book and receive massages in this area.
Using the lift or stairs, the second level is occupied by four fabulous ensuite bedrooms. There are a mixture of oversized stone showers and roll top baths. The master bedroom even has its own fireplace to rival the spectacular views of the larch forest opposite.
On the third level is a spectacular living and dining space with a 6x6m heated panoramic window. This show stopping natural picture is the heart of the chalet and is the perfect spot for cocktails or after dinner drinks. There is a semi open plan dining area which also connects well with the views of the mountains. There is a mezzanine above connected via a metal staircase giving access to a pool table, a bar and a TV area.
