the childcare challenge
At The Hut, our concierge team works closely with childcare companies to look after individuals and small groups whilst you enjoy your day on the slopes. Our small selection of trusted childcare partners recruit experienced nannies and babysitters who are first aid trained and many are qualified to the highest level. Working with specialist childcare providers for over ten years, ensures we're introducing you to the most trusted faces and places in the luxury ski industry.
We can help you arrange the week for everyone in your group, making sure the youngest members of your party have just as good a time as you do. Nannies will come to your luxury ski chalet or apartment to initially meet you all, in a setting familiar to each child. Days will be planned according to individual needs and weather conditions, with an emphasis on as much time spent exploring and getting outdoors as possible.
This includes trips to the farm, soft play, snowman-building and sledging, as well as activities such as skating and swimming, arranged at the parents' discretion. We firmly believe that the best classrooms have wall to wall sunshine and snowy peaks but in the depths of winter, entertainment is provided within the warmth of your luxury ski chalet. This will include novel boxes of toys, arts and crafts and other games to inspire and mesmerise.
Your nanny will also be able to greet our youngest guests after ski school and bring them to meet you for lunch on the mountain. This is your stay, your way, from the youngest in the group to the young at heart.
For older children, we can tailor their ski holiday to include ski lessons, Lunch Clubs and either continued afternoon skiing or Kids’ Clubs. This will give you time for that one last ski run of the day. You deserve it.
Knowing that your nanny will stay with your little ones if you are accidentally stranded on a ski lift (or après bar) for up to 45 minutes after the arranged time.
Your nanny knows all of the best child-friendly hideouts in resort. From where each ski school meets, to that crêperie to warm small hands or the restaurant that will fuel even the fussiest eater and much much more...
Ensuring a good personal match and communication between the nanny and parents are key to having a successful set-up with your the family.
Your nanny knows the tricks of the trade and how to handle the challenges of a small one in a cold ski resort. From getting gloves on, to applying sun-cream and wrestling with ski boots - it's all easy if you know how!
There are unique safety concerns on a ski holiday. Your nanny will keep a vigilant eye on everything from the signs of frostbite, hypothermia, and open fire places in chalets. Their knowledge and understanding about the altitude and the effect it can have on the very young is also invaluable.
