The Village
Attractive wooden-clad architecture and forested surroundings make Meribel one of the most appealing resorts in the region. It is spread across various resort heights from Meribel Village (1400m) to Meribel-Mottaret (1750m), the higher satellite resort in which our featured properties reside. With fewer high-end designer boutiques than the likes of Courchevel, you'll find the retail focus is guided more towards technical clothing outlets and family friendly stores. We recommend popping into the 'Glaciers' bakery and La Fromagerie, both wonderful local delicatessens. Later in the day you can enjoy the ever-popular nightlife in Meribel; from zestful parties at La Folie Douce to slope-side BBQ cookouts at Rond Piste. Much of the town is composed of self-catered accommodation, and so there are plenty of pubs, bars and restaurants to enjoy.
The Skiing
Meribel and its many neighbour resorts are adorned with some of the most stunning skiing opportunities in the world, all easily within reach due to its central location. 600km and 166 ski lifts make up this incredible circuit. With terrain to suit beginners and experts, Les Trois Vallees has a fast and efficiently connected system allowing you to maximise your day to the fullest. Be sure to head to Mont Vallon, the highest point in Meribel, offering beautiful panoramic views followed by a tremendous ski down the long 'Combe Vallon' red run. There is an excellent choice of ski schools available in Meribel for every discipline, teaching in a multitude of languages. Whether children's group classes or private tuition, the key is to find an instructor that works for you. We'll introduce you to our top ski school partners so that you're in good hands.
GETTING TO MERIBEL
The main ways of getting to resort are by private minibus transfer, self-drive, train to Moutiers or helicopter. By road, you can reach the village of Meribel in just over 1 hr from Chambery, 2 hrs from Grenoble or Lyon and 2.5 hrs from Geneva. Our Hip Hideouts concierge are on hand to reserve transfer services for you ensuring travel is smooth and hassle free.
OFF THE SLOPES
Like its sister resorts, Meribel offers a fantastic variety of activities off the slopes. On a pedestrian lift pass you can enjoy the picturesque snowshoe trails across the region, including the nature reserve in Mottaret. If you want to be a bit more daring then you might want to try skidooing, parapenting, a helicopter trip, or you could wend and wind your way through the forest tracks on your very own husky sled. There is also an indoor skating rink, a great public swimming pool, and a bowling alley conveniently located in the village itself.
