New Lifts for Val d'Isere this Winter
With a long and very beautiful summer the teams in Val d'Isere have been hard at work to bring some new and exciting openings for Winter 2018/19. First up is the new Poma gondola which replaces the old four personal telecabines in La Daille. Costing £10m, the new 10 person lift has heated seats and 51 cabins. It's expected that the new capacity will transport 2,800 passengers per hour (almost triple the amount from 933 per hour previously) and halves the journey time to 4mins and 30secs. First of their type in France, they were created by an Italian designer who also works with Maserati and Ferrari. It's now even easier and quicker to get to and from La Folie Douce this winter.
We also see the re-opening of the Teleski des 3000 which has been closed for the last six years. Accessed from the Solaise ski area, Teleski des 3000 is a drag lift which goes to 2960m and enables advanced skiers to reach the Leissières ridge that separates the Solaise ski areas from the Le Fornet ski area and the Pissaillas Glacier. It will be a welcomed addition for accomplished skiers in the Solaise area.
