BACKCOUNTRY & YOGA WORKSHOP

This workshop is about discovering more of the wonderful world that is the backcountry whilst staying in gorgeous alpine chalet accommodation.

Neil McNair, British Snowboard Coach and fully qualified BASI trainer, will take the skills you have learnt on-piste and teach you how to adapt and develop them on different types of off-piste terrain. You will learn how to read the natural lay of the land, choose your line and get the best out of your descent. This means being creative and playful with your natural surroundings whilst maintaining a strong awareness of the mountains. There will be a variety of hiking and lift accessed backcountry riding. Each morning we will assess the weather and snow conditions to seek out the best snow for some great adventures. As knowledge is your greatest strength in the backcountry, we will dedicate time to increasing your knowledge on avalanche safety to ensure that you come away from the workshop with a much greater insight into avalanche prevention. During the week we will hike and then ride to a refuge nestled in the heart of the Tarentaise mountains where we will spend the night – a truly awesome and unforgettable experience!

Each day involves high levels of physical activity and huge adrenalin outputs. It is vital to be able to wind down, switch off and take care of the body which is why restorative yoga is a key element to the week. The yoga sessions will help you to restore and re-energise your body, giving you the optimum chance to make the most out of riding all day, every day, for the whole week. The amazingly stylish Hip Hideouts chalet where you will be staying has a Turkish Hammam where you can relax and sooth tired limbs after a hard day riding.
